Pughoboto is a small sub division located in Zunheboto district. It is 55kms away from the state capital Kohima. It is one of the oldest sub divisions in Nagaland. The Sumi Naga tribe originated from Pughoboto. Christianity in the Sumi land first came to Ighanumi Village, Pughoboto.
The average climatic temperature in Pughoboto is 27°C.
The Sub-Division is bounded by the Angamis in the South, Chakesangs in the East, Rengmas and Lothas in the West and Atoizu and Satakha areas in the North. It consists of four Mountain ranges and is interspersed by Doyang, Tsuyi and Kucho rivers.
